Growing Little Seeds

My pastor on December 11, 2022, preached on Mark 4: 21-41.
I encourage you to read this as it has really good points to it.

But there's some points I wanted to share with you, along with a few of my own.

Currently I am sitting on an airplane as I am typing this up in my keepnotes app and once it's published, it will be up on this blog! Which is where you are reading this right now! So thank you!

Look with me at Mark 4:21-23
" 21.And he said unto them, Is it a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? And not to be set on a candlestick?
22.For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad.
23.If any man has ears, let him hear."

These three verses speak to me saying this,
look! If you have a candle, why would you put it under something?
Why are you trying to hide it?
Is it not meant to make light in the darkness?
If you put it under something flammable, it's going to cause fire!
You put it under a bushel, it's going to go out!

You are to let your light shine, no matter what and show others you are a follower of Christ.

But if you read in verse 22, there's nothing you can hide from God. If you are doing something in secret, he knows.

Verse 23 is simple, if you have ears....HEAR THIS!!

Moving onto the next part in chapter 4 verses 24 and 25
"24.And he said unto them, take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.
25. For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath "

To me this means, when you take the word of God and you apply it to your life and you study the word, God will give you more!

In verse 25 it says he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.

If you keep straying away from God and going to the world, you are going to be about the world, you are going to be consumed with the world.

If going to church and serving God was once a priority but now it's excuses, the love of the worldly pleasures shine through unfortunately.

That light that is to shine for God, is hiding under a bushel and is being put OUT!

Where am I going with this you ask?

First let me tell you what happened at our house and we'll read a few verses.

While my husband was doing a devotional in Luke, we were talking about the Pharisees and being either dead or alive in Christ.
Now God's been dealing with my Bonus daughter for a few months at church and we've not pushed her or questioned her in anyway. This has been between her and God.
But this time, my husband needed to get involved. This poor thang just started to sob and sob and sob!
She said it bothered her about the Pharisees and the dead and alive.
My husband got his Bible and started to ask her about what a sinner was and she just sobbed.
I went to her sister and said, "pray for your sisters salvation right now".
I went to my war room (closet) and sobbed to God to save one more of our children if it was the right time.
My husband knocked on the door and the look on her face was peace! She got saved December 13, 2022.

Now!
Let's look at verses 30-32
"30. And he said. Whereunto shall we liken then kingdom of God? Or with what comparison shall we compare it?
31. It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all seeds that be in the earth:
32. But when it is sown, it growth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches, so that fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it."

I know when you think of this verse and hear about the mustard seed, you think of faith. And when you give a small thing to God, it can grow into something bigger and better for your life.

Why not FULLY give our children to God and he will help them grow, much like the mustard seed. Or any other seed that is growing?!  They ARE the little seeds too. They need to be nurtured and cared for as well in order for them to become full bloom! To bloom into what God has created them to be.

How can we do that as parents?

1. Letting your light shine, no matter where you are. There's always work to do for God.
2. Nothing is hidden from God.
3. Hear the word of God
4. Study God's word and he will give you more as you study.
5. Give our children fully to God
6. Remember, our children are watching us as examples.
