Where I live, we've had snow, ice and sleet over the past week. Of course along with that, comes low temperatures.
We did remote learning at our house a few days last week mixed with no school.
Along with that, the weather caused no church services for a bit!
This past Sunday we were FINALLY able to go to church and I was so excited. But while my family was eating breakfast and we were getting ready, my husband came into the bathroom to let me know......we had no water. AT. ALL! The night before, it had been really cold.
There were a few issues that it could have been.
1. Pipes froze
2. Pipe burst under our house
3. There was an issue out at the well with it being frozen
Right away my husband and I were coming up with plans if indeed, we would not have water for a while. We were going to be in survival mode.
My husband made calls to the person over our water well and he also walked out to it to see if there was an issue. I mentally was like, okay, if we have no water for a while, we've got some reserve and we will make due.
Literally when we were headed out, he asked me to check the water again because there was a text message that a neighbor had water off of the well.
When I turned the knob of the faucet.....
I had SUCH a sigh of relief, WE HAD WATER!
We would have been fine with the reserve of water that we have, we would have survived but it would have been interesting to just handle.
Never again will I take just having running water for granted. During Sunday School one of the preachers stood up and mentioned about the living water.
This reminds me about the story of the Samaritan woman. You can read about it in John 4 starting in verse 6. This is not JUST a random meeting of Christ and the woman. Much like Christs meeting with me, was not random. This was something that was planned by God and it shows the love and the mercy that he has for us!
The living water is the Salvation that Jesus gives us, its a gift from God.
The Samaritan woman does not know who Jesus is when he is talking with her. He even brings up something that is is uncomfortable.
16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place
Wow! I know when God has brought up things in the past that I have done, I always thought it was in a way God being condescending or even judging me. But really, what he was doing was to make it known to me, in a gentle and loving way, to tell me I just need forgiveness and love. God knows everything about us. Much like Jesus knew everything about her.
THIS is what Jesus was trying to tell this woman! He was offering the living water. He was offering her his Salvation. No longer being in survival mode! No longer being in bondage.
Her sins did not disqualify her from the living water.
MY sins did not disqualify ME from the living water.
I'm thankful that God found me where I was at. A woman, sitting on my bed, ashamed of my past, ashamed of who I had become....but he STILL offered me that love and forgiveness.
I am no longer living in survival mode. I have that living water and this will be something to never take for granted.
Its not too late to accept that living water for yourself as well. You will never be "too far gone" from God for him to offer his Salvation.
