Messed up

The other week, my bonus daughters and I made some brownie doughnuts. Now I used this as an example to them that we ALL have to work together to make our house work! Each one of us is like an ingredient and if one ingredient is not in the mix, it wont work right.

Well....this little lesson did not go as I had planned.

I didn't have any eggs and I looked online to see what substitute I could use. I could use applesauce which I have never done before! No problem though right?

In the back of my mind I was praying "please let this work out and not ruin the lesson!"

When I took out the brownie doughnuts, they obviously did not look right at all. They were bubbling and did not set up correctly. So, back in the oven for 5 minutes to see what would happen.

No, that wasn't the answer as well. They were shiny and pretty on the underside, like the photo above, but underneath, they were just sunk in and so hard!!!

The household was kind about it, saying they tasted okay BUT I threw them out! Awful!

We are all a little messed up! BUT we have a God that can help us through the times we mess up.

My Pastor preached a few weeks ago that we are saved spiritually, but our flesh does not get saved. We still have those flesh thoughts and actions. BUT that does not mean to keep purposefully acting on that.

So the little lesson I had for the girls, turned into another type of lesson:

WE ALL MESS UP!

There was unfortunately no way I could fix those brownie doughnuts, just swallow the fact that it got messed up and move on.

Check this out though, we have all sinned and done things we shouldn't.

Romans 3:23 (KJV)
 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

One way I have moved on from the failure of our baking, is to simply know I messed up and the next time I make something, make sure I have an egg. Its the same thing when I fail in some way each day...get what I need and move on!

Philippians 3:13 (KJV)
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before.

When I mess up day to day, I know that God is with me. I know that hes a forgiving God and I know that my flesh is weak.

Psalms 37:24
Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.

I am one to talk but, when you mess up, don't beat yourself up (yes, I do this). Don't wallow in it (and this).

Get back up and know Gods got you and keep striving for better!
